What lip blush is
Lip blush is a form of lip micropigmentation, sometimes called a lip tattoo or semi-permanent lips. A fine needle places small amounts of pigment into the upper layers of the lip skin. The colour is built up in light layers, so the healed result looks like a tint and not like a block of lipstick.
It can do three things: even out the natural colour of the lips, give more definition to the border, and make the lips look a little fuller because the outline is clearer. It does not add volume. That is the job of filler, an injectable procedure that BeCammo does not offer.
The result is semi-permanent. The pigment fades slowly over time, and a touch-up brings it back.
At BeCammo, lip blush sits on the same semi-permanent menu as our microblading. The method comes from founder Brenda Cammo, a pharmacist who specialised in lip micropigmentation at the Alan Spadone Academy in Brazil. Your appointment is with our semi-permanent make-up specialist.
Who lip blush is for
Lip blush usually suits you if:
- your lips are pale or have lost colour over the years;
- the border of your lips is uneven or not well defined;
- the colour is patchy, darker in some areas than in others;
- you wear lipstick or liner every day and would like to wake up with colour already there.
Naturally darker or cool-toned lips can also be treated, but they often need a colour-correcting shade first and more than one session. The consultation is where we look at this honestly.
Tell us before your appointment. Lip blush is usually not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, over broken or irritated skin, or with an active cold sore. If you have had lip filler recently, take blood-thinning medication or use isotretinoin, tell us before you book and we will advise. If you tend to get cold sores, speak to your doctor or pharmacist first as well, because the procedure can trigger one.
How lip blush is done, step by step
- ConsultationA 15-minute consultation with a specialist (€15) comes first. We look at your lips, ask about your health and any earlier lip treatments, and talk about the result you want.
- Colour choiceWe choose the shade together, looking at your natural lip colour and your skin tone. Fresh pigment always looks stronger than the healed result, and we take that into account.
- Lip designThe outline is drawn on your lips with a pencil, following your natural shape and balancing small asymmetries. You see it in the mirror before any pigment is used.
- MicropigmentationThe pigment is placed in thin layers, first along the border and then across the lips, checking the evenness along the way. This is the longest part of the appointment.
- Aftercare adviceYou leave with clear instructions for the next days. Expect the lips to look brighter than the final result and to feel a little swollen at first.
- Touch-up after 30 daysThe touch-up is part of the process, not an extra. About 30 days after the first session, once the lips have healed, you come back for a one-hour appointment (€50) that evens out any lighter spots and adjusts the colour if needed.
The main appointment is booked as a slot of 2 hours 30 minutes. That covers preparation, the design and the pigmentation itself. Booking online takes a €150 deposit.

Before and after your appointment
Before
Keep your lips well moisturised in the week before, since pigment takes more evenly on smooth skin. Avoid alcohol the day before and come without lipstick. If your lips are chapped, cracked or sunburnt on the day, it is better to rebook.
After
Keep the lips clean and use the balm we recommend. For the first days, avoid hot or spicy food, kissing, make-up on the lips, swimming, sauna and direct sun. Do not pick or peel flaking skin. Let it come off by itself.
If you notice swelling that gets worse instead of better, or any sign of a cold sore, message us and speak to a pharmacist or doctor.
How it heals and how long it lasts
Healing happens in stages, and knowing them saves a lot of worry.
- Days 1 to 2: the colour looks bold and the lips can feel swollen and tender.
- Days 3 to 7: the lips feel dry and start to flake. As the flakes fall, the colour underneath can look very light, almost as if it has gone.
- Weeks 2 to 6: the colour comes back gradually and settles into its final, softer shade.
The healed colour is usually noticeably lighter than on the day of the treatment. That is expected. Small imperfections are very common during healing, and it is why the 30-day touch-up exists.
Lip blush usually lasts one to two years. How long depends on your skin, your lifestyle, sun exposure and the shade you chose: lighter, natural tones tend to fade sooner. When it starts to fade, a one-hour touch-up (€180) refreshes the colour. It is meant for clients who had their lips done at BeCammo, between 6 and 12 months after the procedure.
How many sessions you need to reach your result depends on your lips. Every client has the main session and the 30-day touch-up. Darker or uneven lips can need more, and we tell you what to expect at the consultation.
Why clients choose BeCammo for their lips
- Consultation before commitment. The €15 consultation is a short, separate appointment. If lip blush is not the right choice for you, we say so.
- A method with training behind it. BeCammo was founded by Brenda Cammo, who holds a pharmacy degree from the Federal University of Sergipe and a specialisation in microblading and lip micropigmentation from the Alan Spadone Academy in Brazil. In 2025 she was named The Best Master of Beauty Industry at the International Beauty Awards in Barcelona. Our semi-permanent make-up specialist works to the method she created.
- A natural result. The aim is fresher, more even lips, not a drawn-on look.
- In Swieqi. Lip blush is done at our Swieqi salon.
Planning other treatments? Brows can be shaped with eyebrow threading in the same visit. If you also want a facial, book it before your lip appointment or once the lips have healed.
Lip blush, lip filler or lipstick?
People often mix these up. They do different jobs:
| Option | What it changes | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Lip blush | Colour and definition of the lips | Semi-permanent. Usually lasts one to two years and adds no volume |
| Lip filler | Volume and shape | An injectable procedure, not offered at BeCammo. It does not add colour |
| Lipstick and liner | Colour for the day | No commitment, but it needs reapplying and comes off with food and drink |

Lip Blush: questions clients ask
How much is lip blush in Malta?
At BeCammo, lip blush (lip micropigmentation) costs €300 for an appointment of 2 hours 30 minutes, with a €150 deposit when you book online. The consultation is €15, the touch-up after 30 days is €50 and the touch-up between 6 and 12 months is €180.
Does lip blush hurt?
Lips are a sensitive area, so some discomfort is normal. Most clients describe it as manageable. Tell us during the appointment if you need a pause.
How long does lip blush last?
Usually one to two years, depending on your skin, your lifestyle and the shade you chose. A touch-up between 6 and 12 months after the procedure (€180) refreshes the colour.
How many sessions will I need?
The main session and a touch-up about 30 days later, which is part of the process. Darker or uneven lips can need more. It depends on your lips, and we assess it at the consultation.
How long does lip blush take to heal?
The surface usually heals in about a week, with some flaking between days three and seven. The colour then settles over four to six weeks.
Can I get lip blush if I have lip filler?
Usually yes, but not straight after the filler. Tell us when you had it done and we will advise on the timing before you book.
